Hi all :)
This is my first post so I'm little bit nervous ... :(
Okay, this is Shiori Asakura writing, and I guess it's better to introduce myself first, and then, I'd like to talk about first impression, which is what we are studying in class.
As I've mentioned earlier, my name is Shiori Asakura and I am originally from Hiroshima, Japan, and then, I spent three years in Switzerland because my high school was there. This is my high school ! (a picture below)
Can you see the clouds below the school buildings? It is amazing, isn't it? I really think I was very happy to be there. The region where my high school is located is called Leysin, and this area is famous for a ski resort. This is why I keep telling you guys I love snowboarding! There are another things I love; travelling, watching movies and dramas (ep. gossip girl) and taking naps. Speaking of travelling, I've been more than 20 countries and in this winter, I'm going to Paris! If you have common interests or hobbies, I'd love to talk to you about these!!
Some of you in Leadership class know me well from the previous section, and I am usually talkative (sometimes making too much noises in class ... ). People around me often think I'm very active and have no problem with meeting new people, but I do. Actually, I am very shy and I don't feel comfortable with talking to new people. I always do not know what to talk to them. But people don't think so because I am usually very talkative. THAT'S THE PROBLEM!
"Social Intelligence and the Biology of Leadership" from Harvard Business Review explains,"When you make an intentional effort to coordinate movements with another person, it is not only oscillators that fire. In such situations the brain uses other, less adept circuitry to initiate and guide movements; as a result, the interaction feels forced." After reading this, I realized maybe I was trying hard to make a good impression on those new people unconsciously and as a result, the whole conversation became unnatural and I felt tired after having conversations with them. It is maybe difficult for me to become naturally friendly to new people right now, but I think it is good to keep the function of mirror neutron in my mind and try to smile and nod while listening to other's speaking. I think it's a good start.
And now, I have many people I have never talked in this class, so it's a good opportunity for me to improve my communication skill. I'm very looking forward to talking to each of you! Bye!!
p.s. Can't wait the Christmas holidays!!
